Being that it’s now in the upper 80’s and humid as all heck it’s almost difficult to remember just how friggin cold it was over this past Winter. One thing I enjoyed about Winter was heading out at night to shoot the city knowing it was relatively “safe” since all the junkies and criminal types are less likely to be outside. Especially along the waterfront where there are no nightclubs or homes.
I shot this photo of the city from the North Shore, very near the water ramp for Heinz Field. It had just snowed and mine where the only human prints in the snow (lower left in the photo). My tripod happened to be set up were the muskrats went in and out of the water so I wasn’t entirely alone…

Re: Pittsburgh @ Night
Mon, June 13, 2005 - 8:22 PMNice shot - you might want to try playing with panavue (www.panavue.com - free trial download) - it's what I used for the SF panoramas in my gallery and does an amazing job at seamless blending.

Mon, March 20, 2006 - 3:27 PMNice shot, Ron.
I'm just starting to try to do some night photography, but my biggest worry is definitely safety. I don't mind being out and about alone at night around here, at least in some places, especially if I have my dog with me, but the idea of doing so with my attention totally distracted from what's going on around me and focussed on taking pictures is worrisome.
